The house of Sun

The Vision

Sunsmith aspires for a more harmonious relationship with nature.

At Sunsmith, gold is forged with the power of the sun. By focusing sunlight through a lens, temperatures are reached high enough to melt gold and silver. The Sun is the only fire used for Sunsmith jewelry. Connecting it directly to the source of life on earth

I had learned years ago that the power of the sun, focused through a lens, is intense enough to melt gold. Turning this knowledge into reality, it meant i was using the most ecological smelting process possible.
What began as a means for a more balanced natural approach led to an unresolved fundamental issue: the origin of the gold itself.

Throughout history, gold has symbolized the divine, beauty, and abundance. Today, however, its extraction is often accompanied by the destruction of ecosystems, the pollution of waterways, and the depletion of natural resources.

The Mission

With Sunsmith, my goal is to source gold and gemstones differently. I already rework old gold and gemstones often.

For the future I envision to collaborate with passionate gold and gemstone prospectors who source their materials exclusively from rivers and other naturally accessible places, with what the earth willingly yields. Stepping away from industrial mining and large-scale destruction. Only deep respect for the earth, natural ecosystems and for the treasures it bestows.

The Founder

My name is Arjuna Deketele, born in Nazareth, Belgium.

I was trained as a goldsmith from the age of 15.
Goldsmithing is my craft and passion. By becoming a Sunsmith it feels like tapping into mythology. Bringing their stories about the connection between gold and the Sun full circle.
